Gladys Lyons

Gladys Lyons is a decendant of the first pastor at Smoaks Baptist church. Her picture is just

below.  The next set of pictures are the gravesites of her family. She will be seen quite frequently

grooming, remembering, and then perhaps shedding a tear as she returns home in Elloree, S. C.

Poems are written about gracious ladies like her. Come back soon and read more about her.

Quotes written by Rev. Lyons--(Supplied by Grandaughter, Gladys Lyons Alch).

 "Other Things may change

  us, But we start

and end with                       (typed as written)

                family"---

 Now the old ways that

   have brought us

  farther than we remember

      sink out of sight

  as under the treading of

     many strangers

 ignorant of landmarks,

   only once on a while

 they are cast clear again

    upon the mind

 as at a country funeral

   where----

 persist the usuages of old

     neighborhood.
